 Post subject: Possible or Not????

I have a 2wd 1981 chevy luv with the original 1.8L 4 speed and I really want 4wd. Is it possible to do a conversion and if so what would I need to do it? I have a need for mud and 2wd just aint cutting it....lol

Buy a 4x4 and forget about the conversion. Any thing is possible but it all boils down to how much money u want to spend

I agree. Even if you found a 4X4 that has a beat up body and no eng. You could swap all your truck's stuff over to the 4X4. It would already have the trans./transfer case in it and waiting.

Definitely expensive. But, if you luv your LUV, it might be your thing. Not a fan of the '81. Heard somewheres that the drivetrain is a little bit weaker. Smaller axels or something. The guy (my grandpa) that had mine (two owners ago) had problems with putting the newer engine in because the front pumpkin('80) was too big for the '81 oil pan to fit. If you're gonna do the swap out, get an '80. Stronger drivetrain.
Then again, not quite sure of this, anyone confirm?
