My 1980 4x4 and 1978 automatic luvs had 4.10. My 76 manual transmission, 2wd luv has 4.56 gears.

Most of the 4x4 Luvs had 4.10 gears. If anything else was put under them, I haven't heard of them.

A lot of troopers had 4.55 gears.

Others here have suggested that the front differential from a mid-80s trooper is a bolt-in swap.

The rear-end can be adapted to go under the Luv. If you get one from a disk-brake trooper Isuzu 12-bolt), you will also have the advantage of 4 wheel disk brakes. There are other posts about bolting trooper differentials into Luvs.

Also, if you ever decide to use a locker, the Isuzu 12-bolt rear-end can take a locker. (Currently, no one makes one for the Luv differentials.)
