Anything will fit. But how much room will you have to work on it, and how much cutting of the firewall will it take to make it work?

You'd be better off starting with a 2wd truck. Or maybe just putting the LUV cab and bed onto a V8 4wd frame.

I don't have an answer I think you are looking for. I'm just trying to help you think it through.

That's more worth it... you can up the power output of a 429 better than a 460, i believe the 429's an FE block...

It's one of the many ford engine families, it was also a Big Block... 332, 352, 360, 361, 390 (my motor), 391, 406, 410, 427, and 428...

One tip with the FE blocks, consider copper head gaskets if you plan to massage it at all. I had a 360 FE in a motorhome, and it made all the difference in reliability and cooling.

Have fun!

8O OMG!!

Did I just see that someone is planning on using an engine made by the "F" word in a Chevy Luv???

That's just not right!!

It'll probably never run. It won't want to leave your yard out of embarrassment.

Now why would you want to do that to a good old unsuspecting Luv? Poor thing...it survived all those years...just to end up violated.

The horror....

The torture....

The shame....

The outrage....

Please ugotluv....think about what you are about to do before you do this. Isn't there an old POS Courier anywhere around where you live that you can do his to?

(As for the rest of you here that condone or encourage this kind of thing...you are all definitely off of my Christmas card list now for sure...lol)

If you look at my signature, i used to have a LUV with only a diesel, right now I drive a 70' Ford LTD (land yacht) with the 390, and most of the info I've found of it have been from old men, books, and wiki-pedia...

You could check if summit makes a ford BB engine mount kit.

My suggestion would be to do like some of the other guys stated and find something else to put it in. There is nothing out of the box that will work in installing this into a 4 x 4 LUV. This will make it either very time comsuming if you are mechanically inclined or VERY expensive if you are not. IMO, you will get more enjoyment out of your LUV if you leave it stock and use it while you spend many months installing this in something else that will be more accomodating.

hey guys i have the motor, transmission..ect in the shop at the school now (thas where the luv is at, i get shop credit for workin on it there and all the tools and hardware i need) and was wonderin if it would be easier to take off the front clip to install the engine and transmission as one??? i think that will allow me to put it in and out to make fabrication adjustments easier.

What i have is:
- '73 429bb
- c6 transmission
- b&m shifter
- 9 inch ford rear axle
- new front axle( no more 4x4)
- i will make my own motor mounts

Let me know if there is any thing else i will need i might have forgot about something...

oh and i am not worried about the time cuz i dont have a license anymore

has any one done it with this big of a motor its huge
i need to know if you needed to move the cab back or is there enough room to just cut the fire wall?
i can get measurements of how long/wide it is and how long/wide the engine bay is and see if i might have to move it backor what is the best way to get it in there?
i think people have done a similar swap or at least you v8 guys can help a lil bit :D

please give you tips or ideas/ coments
