The last vehicle I owned with an after-market sunroof in it was siliconed to death and leaked like the dickens, so I went over to my neighbor that has worked as a repairman for a huge RV Sales/Repair place for yearsand asked him for a suggestion.

He told me to pull it out, clean it off real good around the edges, then get a role of putty tape like they use to seal in a camper, trailer, or a canopy window, and use that between the sunroof frame and the hole in the top of the cab to seal it back in.

So him and I pulled it one Saturday, and put it back in, and to the best of my knowledge, it's never leaked since. We put the putty tape on double thick and then tightened the sunroof in as much as we could without stripping out the screws or the screw holes, and just used a cheap plastic knife (free from Burger King...lol) to trim off the excess putty.

The putty tape comes in black or grey at my local hardware store, and was pretty cheap...so you might try that method.

Good luck!

After using putty tape was the sunroof still operable? Meaning did it still open and close or is it now stuck closed?

The tape is for the frame of the sunroof only. It doesn't come into contact with the glass. So the operation isn't affected at all.
