hey guys, im gonna try my hand at this 4x4 thing, ive built a few bagged trucks, but im getting tired of them.

well anyway, i have a 78 luv that has mounts for a v8 on the frame, and a complete 84 toyota truck, straight axle up front, 4 cyl 5 speed, everything. i have been thinking about putting the axles and stuff under the luv, has anyone done this? or know where i can get some info?...this will be going from a 2wd to a straight axle 4x4. basically gonna be a trail rig, but street legal and driven on nice days ;) ...gonna make some half doors, and all that good stuff. i was thinking about running a 35-37" tire also, anyone have any pics of luvs w/ a solid axle and that big of a tire?

i know there is someone on here that put a luv body on a toyota frame but i haven't heard of many SAS's done on the luv frame, i was going to do it to mine, but i've already gone through that once before and decided for simplicity and the size off stuff i'm running it would be easier to do a cab swap also. but, i know there are a lot of place that sell a lot of brackets that you can fab a little and have a nice looking SAS in no time 8)

pretty simple, same as doing a SAS on any other Isuzu. cut off all the IFS crap, build new front cross member/mount for the front spring hangers. weld on some rear spring hangers. get a custom front drive shaft, and do a cross over steering (you'll want to upgrade to power steering while your at it, turning anything bigger than a 235 at low speed is a pita) thats about it..well except for a bunch of "other" small details. more info can be found at this site

4x4wire check out the Isuzu talk section, and do a search, this topic has been gone over many a time and is pretty much a perfected science (most ppl use a D44 out of a Heep Waggy but all the stuff would apply to putting a Yota axle under there)

He can make his own driveshaft out of Square tubing I don't know about the ride quality probably wont for being front driveshaft the rear however would ride rough.

well good luck I am sure you can do this project
