Where can I get a 3" body lift kit for a 79 Luv 4x4? Does lifting the body make installing a V8 easier? Thanks.

Performance Accessories (SP?) sells them for about $100

http://www.jackit.com has them as does JC Whitney

as far as making it easier to fit a V8 in a 4x4, I have no clue, in theory it gives you and extra 3" of clarence to play around with under the hood, but i don't know it thats enough for a V8 to clear the front axle

The extra room under the hood and in the tunnel certainly couldn't hurt. I don't think I'd hook a V8 up to the stock front end though. If the CVs didn't break, the shafts would, or the hubs, or the third member.

I do not plan on keeping the stock drivetrain. I have picked up a Dana 44 for the front and a 12 bolt for the rear. I am only putting a 305 in it backed by a TH350 and NP 205 Transfercase. Still have to collect all the other parts for the swap.

this does bring up an interesting idea though, with a 3" BL you could in theory have a enough room to drop in a V8, but if thats the case that also means you'd have enough room to drop in a 4.3 V6 (which is a much more 8-bolt friendly than a V8, still wouldn't want to keep there for long, but It wouldn't be too bad for temporary use i.e. using it while waiting for parts to come in for a SAS) brings up some interesting stuff to consider

Im not sure if you are talking about when you say cv shafts. are you refering to the halfshafts in the front end or actual cv shafts like a front wheel indelpendent suspension car is? My friend just recently bought a 1980 chevy luv 4x4 with a solid front axle with a 1.8L and a manual 4 speed. My brat has 4 wheel independent suspension with primary front wheel drive with an on demand transfer case so i have cv shafts front and back. my friends luv has u-joint looking things going to his wheels.
