Alright so, it is a 1979 Luv 4x4 with a 1.8 isuzu 4 cylinder with a 4 speed transmission. I have emailed him about it, it talks about the great MPG (what do you think the MPG is by the way?) and how reliable it is. Upgraded with speakers and stereo system, and of course. The red/black/yellow paint job he has done. It also has the hood scoop (nonfunctional i presume) I am being forced to make the 50 mile drive out to check it out. He was 1200 for it, but I don't think it's worth that much.

Thanks!

I would say from those pics, it is around a $500 truck, I wonder what that fine paint job they did is hiding?? I am betting it is in a lot worse shape than you can see in those pics.

Personally I'd have to deduct quite a bit for that awful paint. When I sold my 79 4x4 with a few nice upgrades (header, etc) I had a lot of trouble getting $1200 for it. So I'd say unless this one is really really nice inside and under the hood, I wouldn't expect it to bring much more than $900-$1000 if that. I wouldn't pay even that for it, but I really don't like that paint and I'd be knocking it for parts and time to make it not ugly. :)

As for the MPG, 4x4 with a 4Spd should run about 20ish, a bit less for all around town driving and a bit more for all highway. If he's claiming more than 25MPG, I'd be skeptical. If its tuned perfectly and you drive it nice you can get up towards 30mpg but its not typical in my experience.

Yeah looks like a less than $1000 truck to me. I assume those are his pics -- No open hood pics eh? Well depending where you are from 50 miles isn't much and gas is cheap but if it were me I'd offer him about $500. My observation is that people usually have no idea what their truck is worth and are just trying to recoup their own costs when they put a sticker price on it. I don't know how many times I have seen "Over $10000 in parts, asking $8000 OBO."
