My truck is jumping from 4 hi to 2 wd. It's possible that the boot is pushing on the shifter but I don't think it is the full cause. Is there any other way to adjust the linkage to stop it. It just seems to have started this recently.

There is a spring that holds it into place when you put it into 4hi. I'm sure someone on here has a pic of it. It goes around the shifter to a loop on the tcase.if you pull the shifter boot you can see it, unless of course it's not there anymore.

Yea, the spring was gone on mine too. I had the same problem. The spring fixed it. Someone posted pics when they helped me out about a year ago. This is the link to the post that helped me out.

I figured it was simple. I can't veiw the pics at work because of filters. I'll check it out tonite. Thanks rondog and 804xluv. Hopefully the spring is still there.
