Pretty much, all you can do is torsion bar lift for front, shackles and/or add-a-leaf for the rear and body lift.... unless you get real creative like Kevin Whitten... and you got lotsa tools :)

To lift a luv that much I would do a solid from axle swap. alot more lift and a lot better result. The end result will be alot better and your going to be alot happier with it. But it will require alot more work. I did one on my 1995 toyota 4x4.

my luv has a 2 inch body lift and a four inch suspension lift totalling 6 inches and it has 33's and i dont think you could fit 38's with only 6 inches of lift unless you started cutting stuff.

How'd you do the suspension? T-bars and shackles, or a kit?

Can you get away with a 2 inch suspension lift without putting too much stress on the suspension? And what size tires could you put under a 2 inch lift?

it depends on what you do, if you are cranking the torsion bars, then yes, that puts a lot of added (unecessary and worthless in my opinion) stress on the suspension. If it is a true suspension lift it shouldn't be putting any more stress on the suspension than normal, the tires and your foot are going to dictate the amount of stress the susp. sees

FYI: I fit 39.5s on less than 4" of lift.... not without some mods though

what about re indexing the front torsion bars? That way you get the same ride quality as stock and no added stress right?

Check out the sticky in Body And Chassis upgrade.

But because its double A-arm, any lifting is going to add stress and later geometry.

When lifting Undo all the bolts thru the suspension bushings then sit the cars weight down on the suspension then do the tru bolts up on the bushes. This will help prevent overloading the bushes.

I would just find you some one ton axles with a full spring lift and slap it underneath there, it aint that hard.
