This is my first time poting. Just picked up a 1980 4x4 and it has an oil leak on one of the transfer case output shafts so Im going to replace both. Is this fairly strait foward? Is there any secrets? Thanks

So I replaced the front seal and it took care of the leak. Strait foward and easy to do. Somebody had put in gear oil in it, they probably thought the same thing I did, "motor oil in the transmission?". I also adjusted the clutch and changed all of the other fluids except the front diff, no drain and didnt feel like dropping the 3rd member. Somebody had really neglected this poor rig. Seems to run good. :econfused

FYI, the drain plug for the front diff is actually one of the bottom bolts.
