What would be the best year trooper transmission that would bolt up to a stock 79 4x4????? i have access to a 86 would that work. help!!!

I believe the 86 was the same year trooper I used out of the trooper I got.
You will need to have your driveline shortend, as the trooper tranny is longer than the stock 4x4 tranny. Here's a link for the post i did on mine:
