Hi. I was surfing around on the web and found this site and message board. I got a 1980 Chevy Luv automatic a few months ago and like it a lot. I live in Denver. Anyone who can link me up with where to find some basic info. (either online info. or otherwise) such as reprints of the owners manual, tune up specs, repair manuals, etc., this newbie would really appreciate it. I set this thing to notify me when a reply is posted. Thanks.

best bet on a service manual or haynes manual is ebay. the owners manual some folks have and would probably scan up for you. i don't know if you have checked the information page, but the dealer brochure is there along with a few other items. here's a link to what's on ebay right now..http://motors.search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&fstype=1&from=R10&satitle=luv+manual&sacat=6000%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1
oh and welcome to the site...

Wow, thanks Roadshow Bob. I have never used Ebay before, so I registered with them on their site and will see what happens.

Actually all I am looking for at the moment are basic tuneup specs like spark plug gap, timing specs, etc. Is that kind of stuff avilable for free on this or some other site? Thanx. :D

To Roadshow Bob-Thank you for the tuneup info. That was just what I needed at this time.

To Tilted- I bought the 1980 Luv in August through a friend of mine at work who collects old cars (mostly Nash). He knew somebody in Indiana who had the Luv stored there, went to Indiana, bought it, and drove it back to Denver. Then my friend at work (Ross) sold it to me for (you're not going to believe this) $500.00 . Ross felt sorry for me because he knew that my 1988 Suzuki Samurai was on it's last legs, the softtop roof leaked, etc.
The Chevy Luv has quite a bit of rust on the body and frame, but has only 78,000 original miles. It was hand painted black with a paintbrush by the guy in Indiana. It runs great now that I have replaced the thermostat.
Tilted (or anyone else) - Can you post the names and locations of junkyards near Denver that have Luv parts, please ? Thanx.

Cool, figured it more than likely wasnt from the area, I dont see any LUVs on the road around here anymore. Pick-a-part that is just west of 33rd and Peoria usually has a couple of luvs and there is a yard behind Svegal's south of Oxfard on Santa Fe once and a while has one. Cant remember the name but it is something like Colorado car and truck parts, I got a set of doors from there a couple of years ago. If I ever hit a yard and see one, I will shoot you an email, what parts are you looking for????

Thanks Tilted. I don't need any parts right now except for a passenger side door mirror, so I will check at Pull n Save and the other yard near Svigel's. It's always good to know where to look for future reference. Thanks.

Do you use the name "Tilted" because of the way the bed of the LUV tilts ?

isandman02,
Unless it has been painted over, or peeled off, there is a sticker on the inside lower left corner of your hood with all the tune up specs etc.

Ike

Thanks!!! Hey, your luv isnt yellow is it??? I actually seen one on the road Saturday going down Wadsworth just south of I-70, had a fridge and a stove in the back of it! 8O
As for the name Tilted, that is most of the reason for the name plus when I first got I use to drive it to the arcades where I use to play a ton of Pinball, now that I got a house with a 3 car garage, I am getting the LUV out of storage at my dads house in Wyoming and have room to get a pinball machine. 8)

To Ike- Thanks. I'll look there tomorrow morning. I remember a sticker under the hood saying "Made by Izusu".

-------------------------------------

To Tilted- Like I mentioned above, it's hand painted black with a paintbrush, so the yellow one with he refrigerator wasn't me.

Not sure yet, I always wanted a KISS pinball machine but it has a pretty hokey playfield, plus it is about the only KISS item that still holds its value (overpriced). My favorite back in the day (mid 80's) was Space Invaders, I could play all night on that one for a quarter  the arcade owner was never happy when I got on the machine. Probably wont ever get one actually for my house cuz I have to many other things to spend my money, esp if I want to rebuild my LUV again! (unless somebody gives me a winning loto ticket because I rarely buy one.)
