Just picked up my next project; 82 diesel luv Mikcado SB. Traveled 200 miles to buy it and it made back home without issue, seems to be mechanically in pretty good order. The wiring is another story. I got over 39mpg on the trip back, with dirtiest air filter I have ever seen. the odometer shows over 300k and resembles a slot machine where the last digits spin around randomly. I plan on restoring it to stock. I just finished pressure washing a yard of dirt and grease from the undercarriage and engine compartment.

I'm in need of a tailgate, which models/years fit , including Isuzu?

Welcome to the site! What part of the world are you in?

39 mpg is pretty unusual, must be a 4-speed 2wd.

Good tailgates are hard to find. Any '81-'82 LUV or '81-'87 Isuzu P'up will fit. The '86 P'up didn't have "ISUZU" stamped into the sheet metal, they had a decal instead. If you can find one of those, your truck won't be sending "mixed messages". :D

First priorities:
Replace the timing belt, it's an interference engine.
Replace the transmission oil. It uses motor oil, and heavy gear lube will kill it.

I'm reluctantly located the people's republic of California. Northern coast where it is kinda normal so far , the weather and the wife keeps me here. Seldom gets over 75f and seldom freezes pretty much in the 60's year round.
Its a 5 speed 2wd.
Going to Tahoe soon, found a couple of wrecking yards with tailgates along the way. I'll be cleaning and treating the rust for the next few days. Can't stand working on dirty equiptment.

If you're anywhere near Medford OR, I have a friend up there who might have a tailgate.

Thanks, I bought the Luv near Medford. I'll call on you if I fail to find one on our Tahoe trip.
Again,
Thanks
