Hey. Just picked up a 79 4x4 to mess around with in my retirement. Looking forward to seeing what's new in the Luv world. Had a 76 Mikado, bought new in uh,76, after getting out of the Army and drove the wheels off that thing. Always wanted another one. Worked for decades in the natural gas industry as a welder/foreman,so luv to build stuff. Motorcycles and car stereo hobbies have taught me the mechanical, fabrication and electrical skills for attacking this new truck,so will be bouncing crazy ideas of you all in the future...
Steve

Thanks..
Got some ideas...gonna build a set of headers, [have made dozens for my bike, before I gave up that hobby], thinking since the carb is shot anyway, build a new manifold or 4 and adapt some easy to tune CV motorcycle carbs, kinda like the old Weber side drafts, will build a new dash to house my stereo,[mids, tweet's and head unit] and add mid basses to the doors or kick panels and possible sink a sub or 2 under the cab.[ this is a maybe, since the cab is rust free] The only rusted out area on the whole truck is the bed bottom and sides, from the wheel tubs forward. That will all be cut out,and steel, under bed storage will be welded in.It will house the normal in cab items and the relocated battery. And probably some other things too, lol.

Ctmandu used some Yamaha r1 carbs with a pretty simple intake on his with a megajolt programmable ignition system and it was a screamer there is a video on his old thread about it.

All sounds good. Should be a good rig for you to tinker on always one more little thing to do

Thanks for directing me to the R1 carb article..Decided to just do the tried and true Weber instead. Should be here early next week.
