I had just adquired a one owner Chevy LUV with a 2.2L Dsl. It looks like a toy truck compared to my 1 ton. Growing up, my dad purchased it brand new. When I came home off of leave. I was the only one that he would let touch it other than doing maintenance on it. It only has 160,000 miles on it. All the interior has been redone back to original. I will be starting to do the outside so I can bring it to car shows. It only has superficial damage, other than that the body is true. Only major maintenance done to it, was a clutch change out and it was done back in 1990.

Welcome to the site. Some of the true LUVers (purists) don't care for the 2nd generation LUV, but you can always find camaraderie with the Isuzu P'up owners.

I'm a diesel nut, so I'll offer whatever help I can.

Jack

Welcome to the site. Please post pics of the truck when you get a chance.

Notice also that the second and fourth posts on here are in a positive light from regular members of this site. One of the reasons the second Gen trucks and diesels get little LUV here, is we have few members with those models. I don't recall anybody knocking them, just we have little information for them usually, so threads are slow to get answered at times, it is not due to a dislike of the powerplant and body style though, IMO. As you can see by the different subforums here, with a Diesel section, 4x4 section, etcetera, you are most definitely welcome here...

Welcome here. You might be surprised on the value of your truck. Any issues post away and we will do what we can to help.

It's okay, don't hint--just call me out. ;) I really didn't intend anything to be negative. I thought it was pretty clear that some 1st gen guys never cared for the 2nd gen style (or lack of it). For that matter, even some of the automotive magazine reviewers were underwhelmed with the 2nd gen styling. In my mind, from a style perspective, they're just two distinctly different trucks. And to me, that's not negative, it's just my impression. I like them both, but the 2nd generation got me because of the diesel.

My clutch was going strong after 30 years, but I changed it during the transmission upgrade, after the transmission failed a second time.

I hinted in an earlier intro thread about this type of post, and it apparently didn't take... I and others here value your contributions to this site, it is the way you go about it. In your first post here, I was at work and had 2 people who have never visited this board read the post and asked their opinion. Both said it looked like you were slamming this site by telling a newbie they would not be welcomed here. I merely pointed out the fact that they would be...

I am fine with your explanation of what you meant, I was just pointing out that that is not how it came across to several people...

Guilty as charged, I guess. Noted, and appreciated. And I'll do my absolute best to try and remember to at least use the appropriate emoticons when I'm being (as my daughter calls it) "sassy".

:D

Now, I don't want hijack the topic. I feel a kinship with the 2nd-gen diesel owners...so, to my new-found 2nd gen diesel bro, welcome to the family!

Jack

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
