Hey all, names Jamieson. Newbie to luvs but not to Chevy. Been out of the domestic game for a bit (12 years). I'll try not to waste anyone's time on here with silly questions the search function can't answer. Anywho, recently I found myself at a fork in the road. A while back (12 years ago) when I was in highschool, me and my dad built a 76' Silverado, 1 ton, 4X4, 35" BFGoodrich's, 4" lift, new 350, new TH350, dual Flowmasters, Edelbrock intake manifold and carb, and the list goes on. Well I live in California, and California emissions regulations suck very very hard. Cutoff year is '75 for smog. The truck didn't have cats on it so we never registered it and it sat there the whole time. Well life happened and the parents move but decided to rent out the house. Having a rather large backyard behind the garage which was separate from the house (the house was built on 3 lots), we tucked the truck behind the garage and out of the tenants way. Well it wasn't too long until one of the tenants decided to help himself to most of the aftermarket parts on the truck. We got a call after they were evicted saying she noticed it looked like stuff was missing. Well I went over there that night and found everything gone except the long block, trans, and transfer case. I pulled them right away and brought them to my current house not knowing what to do with them. Here where we get to the fork in the road....up to this point I was planning on fixing up my daily driver, so my fork was an engine for my car or a car for my engine? Well after a long time I've settled on trying to find a Chevy Luv to throw the 350 in. I'm mechanically inclined, I'm currently a tech at a Mercedes-Benz dealership so I have the knowledge and just as importantly, I have the tools. I'm not here to bother anyone or ask newbie questions. I can do my own research and find my own answers. I'm also good with electrical so I have that base covered. I'm still looking for a decent Luv, doesn't have to be perfect, doesn't even have to have an engine. But I need it to be a '75 or before so I don't have to worry about the California smog nazis. Well I'm off to look for a Luv, bless anyone who took the time to read this haha. And as always have a gud'n.
