I live in Eastern Oregon. I just picked up an 80 2wd for pretty much next to nothing. It has rusted out floor boards, garbage interior, a crack about 1.5" wide in the dash (apparently that's pretty common haha) and who knows how many miles are on it. The front fenders are rolled in at the back because someone put tires on it that are too big for it. If I can figure out how to put up the pic of the truck, I will. Here goes... I think I got it.

So far what I've learned about LUVs:
Forget about finding a new dash, break out the fiberglass ;)
Forget about finding floor pan replacements... or any other body parts for that matter.
I wish I had the time and money to do what I want to this truck (as all of you guys probably do too)

first thing I'm working on is getting an electronic distributor from a later model isuzu. Then, hopefully a Weber carb for it. Cash is a little low. just had a little girl last week, so I'm trying to see how much spending money I'll have after taking care of what's important.

i think i just found an answer to the dash board problem. there are plastic dash forms just for the chevy luv. i need to investigate but my dash is toast. and this i think will fit over the top and cover the nasty cracks then i am sewing a new red and white checked table cloth cover for the plastic cover. the idea of fiber glass doesn't sit well with me. i had thought about shelving plastic to hold it all together while i find something else but i think i am going to order the plastic form. see if that works. may be you have some other ideas???

Well, it's been quite a while since I've been on. Mainly because I've been working a ton and having fun with my daughter. The trucks doing pretty good. It was leaking a ton of oil this summer due to a blown timing cover gasket. I'm working on rebuilding the motor now and trying to weld up some sheet metal where the floor boards are supposed to be. The motor's torn down for the most part. I don't have a hoist or a stand, so I've pulled all but the block/crank out. it's a mess.

What I'm working on:

Send the motor to a machine shop to get the block shaved (and timing cover if necessary), get the head done (valves) get my cam done, and cleaning the whole thing because it's covered in oil and dirt haha. I'm working on the fittings for the emissions delete. I'm saving for a pace setter header, Weber carb, and Offy intake.

Any advise for the near future? haha.

What paint works best on engines? I'm still debating on painting it or not.
