Well I was trying to register last week but it just kept saying spam. After searching all over for an email address to email someone I was searching for.answers on google. I was finally able.to.find a.post saying that you can't use a gmail.

Anywho, my name.is Dick and I have built.all sorts of stuff from turbo.dsm's to choppers. I love old trucks.and I had a 62 f100 unibody for a while.but.I think the new luv is.even cooler. I was selling.a mitsubishi mirage and right after.it.sold my ford ranger took a poo on me. Right after that a guy called wanting to trade a chevy luv for my car......smack in the face! Well I was weary since I was certain any luv in the midwest was rotted gone. The man said it was an 81so I was off to look at a rusted ol boxy luv.....I thougt. Well I got there and the body was really solid and had southern looking patina. It turns out that the truck was from.arkansas and it was a sexy little curvy 80!! Sooo I picked her up or 500 bucks running and driving. No doubt it needs lots of tlc but I.plan to slam her down and give her.some.fresh parts. 1980 long bed mikado 2wd.
pics up some time today.

Thanks guys!, Right now I need to work on neglected items and see what kind of shape the engine is in. If I can get my hand on a 5 speed and get enough power out of the 1.8 ill probably stick with it. other wise I will be looking for a swap. I thinks its a super cool engine. One thing I was unsure about is there any way to see if the engienhad been replaced by looking at the block codes. The exhaust manifold appears to have a broken of o2 sensor? Like it was from some fuel injected engine. The guy said it was a 1.9 but it should have a 1.8 correct?

Stock is a G 180 or 1.8. The 1.9 looks the same, the LUV did not have a 02 sensor stock, it could be a 1.9. I think I remember the 1.8 or 1.9 mark on the block on the drivers side, again I think it.

the g180 says "G180" on the driver side of the block and the head has the isuzu symbol on the front.
not sure what the 1.9 has on it ask ctmandu he has one is his stepside.

EGR goes from rear of exhaust manifold, between valve cover & and firewall, and to the bottom of intake manifold.

I removed all my emissions parts and went with a weber 32/36 carb. I didn't regret it in the slightest. shopping for a 5 speed now.

I think they may have removed emmisions already as well. They may have done a hack job though so I am going to go back through and check her out. I did remove the ugly bumper and fugly tool box last night. Now I just need to find more info in these trucks. This is the only resource I have found for these trucks, I couldnt find any isuzu engine geek sites either.
As far as lowering is there like a standard that most people follow? I want to go down like 4" but I dont know if this obtainable through tbars and blocks, and removing a leaf or 2. Keep in mind I will be hualing 2 dirtbikes and gear so thats about 450 lbs.

i usually haul my dirtbike in mine along with my gear etc.
at stock height it barely makes a difference in the suspension
a 4" drop sounds reasonable with that much weight in the back as long as its not going to see some monster potholes on the way into where your riding.

heres a 6" dropped luv owned by one of the newer members
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=24395
read through it, says what was done to drop it. you shouldnt need to pull springs, MAYBE one.

so if yours is 2" higher you shouldnt have a problem at all with 2 bikes and riding gear

Do you realize that lowering your truck that much it is going to ride like a tank?

Yes I do,.I've ridden in much worse riding vehicles im sure. They just look to cool low to pass up the opportunity.

Edit: btw I ride my ridgid chopper 50 miles a day when its nice during the summer. Now that's a.rough ride.
