I have a 1982 Diesel 4X4 LUV and need the turn signal light and running light for the passenger side front bumper to get it to pass a Missouri state vehicle inspection. I am hoping to use it as a daily driver. It requires an electric fuel pump to be drivable, it runs off the origional pump but dies after driving about 100ft. The carpet was soaked with antifreeze when I received it so the heater core may be shot as well. Junk yards around here laugh at me when I ask about parts, any help/recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Glen

Glenn,

I don't know where you are in MO, but there's a member of the IsuzuPup.com site who is Memphis, MO. Actually, iit's a couple (Dart and Deb Escue). They go by the username "debsq". They deal in a lot of used P'up (and of course 2nd-gen LUV) parts. They may have what you need.

There's an '86 P'up at the Memphis Pull-A-Part that also has the lights still in the bumper. The one on the bumper end (passenger's side) is cracked, but the one on the front of the bumper looks fine. I'm going over there this week to "clean up" and I don't mind pulling that for you if that's what you need. I pulled a BUNCH of stuff yesterday, including the ENGINE! :)

You really should diagnose your fuel system rather than adding an electric pump. It sounds like you have a simple air leak--that's the classic symptom.

I pulled a heater core for someone a couple of months ago, from a '90 Trooper. Trooper cores through '91 work just fine. It's best to get the newest one you can. If you wanted brand spankin' new, we have a forum member who can get any new parts that Isuzu still sells (he's retired from Isuzu). But the new core is over $200, I don't recall exactly how much.

Jack

Thanks Jack, I noticed you are always willing to help us newbees, it is appreciated. Warrensburg is 1 hr East of KC on I-70 then 15 miles South on MO -13. Let me check with debsq and if they don't have the bumper light I will get back to you. I have limited knowledge of things automotive, can you tell me how to check for the air leak?

Glen

Jack, Dart & Deb said they have the lenses, they recommended I check to see if I need the assemblies as well. Again, Thank You

I think I replied to your post about the air leak on the IsuzuPup.com forum. If not, lemme know.

Jack. Not sure where you sent it, it's not attached to my eariler email. I guess I could just start replacing fuel lines from the tank forward.

Glen,

You're right, I didn't reply to another post--it must have been someone else. This problem is SO common, it was probably another new member that I replied to.

Some owners use a clear inline fuel filter right before the main filter assembly. They say they can see air bubbles in the clear filter if they have an air leak.
