Hi, I have a 1979 Chevy Luv truck that originally belonged to my dad and he gave it to me in 1989...he bought it new. For the last 2 or 3 years I haven't driven it much and it currently has a carburetor issue and needs a new one. I have taken it in a few times, spent $400+ on a new fuel filter/pump only to realize that it was not the fuel filter/pump but the carburetor. The dealer went out of business by the time this discovery was made and so I took it somewhere else to have a new carburetor put in for $550 (rebuilt). They had it for 3 months and I finally picked it up and it was running really rough, they said it just needed to be run. It died on the freeway a day or so later. I had it towed back to the same place and they kept it for another 4 months and could not fix it.....I think they just left it sitting there without trying. I finally went to the place in person and demanded my money back or fix it. They gave me my money back.
I have been on your site quite a few times but never joined. I have kept the truck because I love driving it, it has great get up and for sentimental reasons that my dad gave it to me. I have been really frustrated and not able to fix it and can't do it myself and can't seem to find a carburetor.
Now the truck has been sitting in my driveway for a year and I think I am finally ready to part with it (not really) and can't find anyone to fix it. I want to list the truck but have no idea how much to sell it for and thought I could get some advise from the luv truck group. The body is in great shape only a few minor dings and dent, the paint has oxidized and the dash is cracked, the mileage is about 95k original and I have not upgraded anything to the truck except for standard tuneups, hoses etc. This is a standard 2 x 2.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You can buy a new Weber carb cheaper than "they" were rebuilding the one on it. Do a search out here and you will find a wealth of info in it. You might also find someone selling one if you look around a bit. Sounds like you have a nice truck with a couple small issues...I'd hate to see you get rid of it.

Welcome to the site.
