I just picked up my first Luv. A 1980 4x4. It's nothing much to look at, but the price was right. I wasn't really looking for another pickup, but you can't pass up a working 4x4 for $400 :) My neighbor was having a garage sale, and we went to go look. She was moving out of state the next morning. It was originally priced at $1200 (way to high IMO) but she was willing to go $500 to move it, I only had $400, so we settled on that. She had just put in new front wheel bearings, and put one of the hubs back together wrong. It wouldn't turn. It took me a couple hours, but it works just fine now. It has a 2" body lift and 15" tires, but I'll need to add better tires to do any real off-roading.

I don't care much about the sheet metal, I just like to go up in to the hills and tend to bump in to stuff out there, so it was a good deal for me. My Jeep Cherokee uses to much gas for me to go as often as I like, so I think this will be perfect.

I was surprised at how much you guys are doing with these, I hope I don't get hooked and turn a $400 pickup truck in to a $2000 pickup truck :) I can see it happening.

Here's a pic, like I said it's not much to look at, but it runs strong, and I can't wait until this weekend to go test it out in the woods.

Nice.

I wish I could find an '80 Mikado 4x4 White with the Blue Strips.

Mine looks like a racing truck with number 44. But doubt I will win any races.

This one is the one that started this type of paint job.... You need a lot of time to read this... 40 something pages. 8O

A few sheet metal parts and you are ready to do this....

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Wow, I got through the first ten pages or so, That's definitely in the near future. I'm going to Home Depot today and pick up some sandpaper and Bondo to start the body work today.
