Hi, my name is Luke, I'm from Wisconsin and 22 years old. My dad bought our 1981 Chevy Luv new in 1981 and we've had it ever since. Currently the body is starting to let go in spite of having new paint within the past 10 years. It's got the Izuzu diesel in it with a 5 speed. It's what I learned to drive in, and it was the vehicle I drove to high school. Believe me, having a LUV truck in high school, everyone knows who you are with a vehicle with a name like that.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum. Currently my dad talks about doing a full restoration on it, which I am all for. We are not uninitiated to working on engines or vehicles as we have restored 3 late model Jeep wranglers for fun. My dad also owns a 76 corvette and a 75 harley sportster that we work on. I myself enjoy working on my 94 Honda CBR, our 04 Honda Foreman, or any dirtbikes I happen to have purchased.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll be posting up plenty of questions on where to find parts like gasket sets or full on rebuild kits for the engine as it has gotten quite weak within the last several years. Also I'll probably be looking of insight on replacement wiring harnesses if they exist. The reason I actually stumbled upon this site was that I was looking for a wiring harness kit because more electrical stuff DOESN'T work than what DOES. The only electrical things that work are the headlights, wipers and AM radio. The brake lights, turn signals, horn, and running lights do not work.
Currently my dad and I will probably be looking into fixing all the body panels, truck bed and cab corners as they are rusted through almost completely. The frame has been welded once already.

Anyway, thats about it, look forward to seeing what this site has to offer.
Here's a low res pic of it circa 2002.

Welcome.

I've found that http://www.luvtruck.com/Information.htm and http://www.luvtruck.com/links.php are quite useful.
