I just joined the group and have really enjoyed reading about the Luv's. I don't have one, but my son just picked up a 1982 Chevy Luv diesel and from what I've read it looks like that the Luv may have been an Isuzu in disguise. I'm 71 and have pulled a few wrenches in my time but never on a diesel, so this is going to be a new trip for me. His truck is in fair condition and we drove it back from Al. to SC a few weeks ago. 350 miles. One of the biggest problem that he has now is getting the AC going. The compressor is frozen up, so I'm trying to locate a rebuilt one or a good used one and a new drier. I've picked up the orignal shop and parts manuals, so we have something to start working with. I think all my son wants to do is use this as an every day driver around town. So I may be calling on you guys for help and information. Now does anyone have a compressor setting around that they want to move.
From what I've come up with in the parts book it looks like a 81 and 82 uses the same compressor. I think that it may be a Diesel Kiki compressor. I have pictures if anyone needs to see it.

We're in the sunny south right in the middle of the state. And I see that we just missed a group meeting in Charlotte NC a couple of months ago with the Isuzu guys. Maybe there'll be another one soon.

Welcome to the site and best of luck with the truck! Another place you could check is the Isuzu P'up site at http://www.isuzupup.com/ since the '81 and '82 LUV diesel should be the same as the diesel P'ups.
