I just purchased my LUV this past Saturday. I am really excited about this truck and am glad to have found this website. My truck is a 1976. I bought it from a teacher that has owned it since 1977. All stock, no mods! Mine runs great except for the float has stuck twice so far. Mine also has the cancer problem that I have seen others with here. I paid $800.00 dollars for mine and believe it will help stop the bleeding from my 1996 f250 ford with a 460 gas burner! I will post some pics soon and hope my new ride last long enough to make some new friends here! Oh, yea mine has only 54,000 original miles, although it looks like 154,000.

Welcome to the site. If fuel savings is your goal, do a search on a 5 speed swap. There is also a lot of discussion recently on rear end gearing. An electronic ignition is an easy upgrade also and will provide better idle, more reliable starts and possibly better fuel mileage. The search function will give lots of threads on this.

There are also some common items that come up a lot, and a search for those will often provide multiple threads, too. A quick list includes, electrical issues (fuel pump relay, wiring questions, etc.), no start conditions, fuel sender, tire size, etc.

After 5 posts you can post photos. Seems like we've gained several members in the southeast recently, so your timing is good for picking up this rig, as you've got company nearby. Are you up north or in LA?
