8) Hey all, I just wanted to introduce myself and my truck to the forum. I really don't know how much I will be using it but will be looking around to gain knowledge about my 82 Diesel as needed.

My son bought this trk last year for 1000 bucks but decided he wanted a hot car so I bought it from him last month for 500 bucks. The previous owner put new tires and an alignment on it just b4 my son picked it up. We worked together to get it ready for paint but that is as far as it has gotten.

Some of the things at the top of the list are:

-Top end cleaning, injectors.
-New dash cover (of course).
-New grill.
-Fresh paint.
-All new marker and turn signals.

I am debating on building a web site for it so that is up in the air for now.

Thanks for listening and I will be seeing you in the posts.

Regards

Injectors can sometimes be easily cleaned by a once-in-a-while 50/50 mix of kerosene and diesel fuel, full tank...

most of the other parts are easily found...

Finalman: 8) Thanks for the tip on injector cleaning, which may come in handy one of these days . . . soon. Your Luv looks sweet in silver. Mine is/was yellow. I am trying to decide on a color.

Thanks to all for the welcomes.

One thing I forgot to put on the list was sun visors. Those things are annoying as all get out.

I will also be needing an AC setup. Keeping the Diesel though, its not going to be a hot rod. Got my 99 Dak for that.

Regards

Welcome to the site, and you'll probably fall in love with the truck if you haven't already.

If you don't know when the timing belt was last replaced, that should be added to the TOP of your list.

Welcome to the site!

I've been thinking about getting a diesel vehicle to play around with making my own biodiesel. (I've also heard that you can get a permit from the feds to make your own ethanol for a gas vehicle too - but in my case that might not be such a wise decision...lol)

Enjoy your truck!

I don't think you need a permit to produce ethanol/E85 for personal use, could be wrong about this.
I am planning on converting a couple of my rigs to run on E85.
Goin Green....

Actually, homebrewers do need a Federal permit to make your own ethanol for fuel. It's TTB form 5110.74. I know someone who got it and he said it wasn't a big deal to get it approved. To be legal you have to denature your homebrewed ethanol. Most people denature with a small amount of gasoline.

The form is located on the TTB site ttb.gov. I'm too new to post URLs, so you'll need to search for f511074.pdf in the forms section.

Thanks all for the welcome,

JoeIsuzu, thanks, got the timing belt on my list. Put it in front of the front end work and paint job. :esmile

Ripper86, np, its all great info.
