Evening, everyone!

I've been lurking around here for a couple weeks, finally managed to get an account activated- so it's time for an introduction!

My name is Merlyn, I live in the Denver area, and I just picked up a 1979 4WD LUV. Traded an old Husqvarna dirtbike even for it, and paid $50 for a spare engine. Not a bad deal.

The truck is, as you might imagine, "some assembly required" but I hope to have it started next weekend, or maybe sooner.

I'm a professional computer geek, and sometimes a motorcycle mechanic.

I've had a lot of fun reading the forums here, and I hope to have a lot of fun posting too- nice to "meet" you all!

Merlyn

Welcome

What's with the Gremlinguy thing? Is it an AMC thing? I'm an ex-Rambler junkie, owned several Gremlins, a Hornet AMX, Rebels (one was a 'vert), Classics, Americans, and even a Pacer wagon... :) I just passed on chance to buy a coffin nose '74 Ambo wagon...

Strangely, I dug an old T-shirt out of the back of the drawer and it still fit. It's my 8th Annual Southwest Regional meet shirt, from when I lived in Houston back in '98, and I'm wearing as I type this...lol..

I keep wanting to stuff an L-head 196 in my '78 Luv, but common sense prevails. For now, anyway...

Ahhh the good old AMC Gremlin...now there was a car that was fun! :D

Years ago I had a pretty beat-up Gremlin X, so I put the engine/transmission plus the rest of the goodies and running gear in another straight Levi Strauss edition Gremlin that I picked up cheap sitting around in an old guy's backyard.

Back then you could still get high performance parts for the AMC V8's, so while the engine was out, me and a couple buddies decided to build the old Gemlin X's engine up a bit before we dropped it in the "Jean Machine". 8)

It really was a kick in the pants to see the look on people's faces every time I whooped up on someone with it! That little ugly baby-blue car was hella fast!

Welcome to the site Merlyn!

And Gremlinguy...thanks for the memories!
