Mikado is a trim level of a LUV truck. It had lights that worked with the doors, longer door panels, nicer interior, different shift knob, 3 spoke steering wheel and several other options. The easiest way to figure out if you have a Mikado is to look at the door panels and see if they are the full length of the doors and to see if you have the pin switches in the pillar that contacts the door for the courtesy lights. I am pretty sure the Mikado started around the 74 model year, or at least that is what I have been able to dig up.

Mikado is Japanese for Emperor.... A truck with the royal treatment apparently.
They've had Mikado's since Japan's feudal system was united under one dude.

for the truck there are some extra chrome pieces & trim, 3 spoke wheel,

I was able to verify that the Mikado was first offered in 74 as per my factory parts manual.
