Did a little bit of work today, not nearly as much as I had planed. Everyone stopped by to check on me it seemed like... neighbors, dad, friends...
My pickle fork is in someone elses pickle jar... so I couldnt pull apart the front end like I had planned. So I just prepared everything to make it an easy day to take off all of the suspension in one day.

Wunna know how low you can really go?

No torsion bars were harmed during this pitcure.

After all of this comes the hard part.... buying stuff, fixing some stuff and putting stuff back together.

Wow, that is pretty extreme. Where is the rest of your truck? In the attic?

Oh, by the way, I'm the guy who bought the fuel pump from you. Once I can post pictures I'll show you my truck. When I saw the picture of the inside of your cab, I thought I was looking at mine. Crazy.

drug it to the backyard to do some sandblasting... I must say it goes pretty quick, im impressed with the cheap little sand blaster. It holds 80lbs of sand. On the down side my air compressor cant keep up, so I can only do like one foot sections at a time.
Thinking pretty seriously about getting the 33 gal compressor, not too big to move around, but still bigger than my 26 gal.

Gotta pick up some more sand, but you can see how well it works. Probably gong to take a few more days to complete since I'm allways waiting on the compressor. :(

Sounds like its going pretty good. Still sounds a whole lot easier than the way i did mine. I had to grind mine down with a wire brush. :x All brisle kept coming off and sticking me in the face. That was fun. Hey what kind of parts do you need? I have an extra parts truck and a bunch of other parts im not using any more if your interested. I get back in a month so if you need any help let me know. Good luck.

I couldnt imagine doing it with a wire wheel... thats alot of work!

Dont supose you have some good rocker pannels? No one seems to have any new ones

I might hit ya up... Hopefully next week the build up will begin... For the suspension and frame anyways... the body needs some work, but it will be worked on when Im waiting for parts or whatever.

What is the HP Rating on your compressor? My 1.7HP, 20Gal compressor couldn't keep up hardly with my dual action sander, so I picked up a second compressor (2.5HP + 15Gal) from WalMart and got a hose repair kit and put to of thoes male connectors on with a Y-Splitter thingy on, and basically linked the two compressors together. I doubled the output of my compressor, and never had a problem with my DA sander. Now, since I am through with it, I'll take it back to WalMart because of there sweet return policy.

How much HP or CFM does the sandblaster reccommend?

I think its only 1.5 hp
There are different types of sand blasters, syphen and the gravity feed tank.
The syphen one doesnt say.. its probably 90 psi. The my other tank kind needs 90 psi, but it consumes alot more cfm's of air... I dont know what the rating was but it does say in the manual or on the tank that you need a 20 gal tank or bigger compressor.

Great job!!!!! Nice to see someone going to this extreme. I know the feeling of your sandblasting chore. It took me a whole day to do my frame, and I have an 80 gallon 2 stage compressor that was keeping up with the sandblaster.

Thanks

It took alot longer than I expected but Im glad I did it.
Everyday after work until the sun went down for a week. That kind of makes it sound like thats all I did, but alot of it was down time waiting on the pressure to build back up....
so I also mowed the lawn, raked up leaves, and just about anything else that was outdoors... so I wouldnt track the sand inside.

Im afraid the build up is going to be ALOT slower.

Yep, I started putting mine back together in the spring of one year, hoping to be complete over the summer. But it ended up taking the whole next winter and spring and part of the next summer....
