My name's Craig, and I currently drive a little 94 Nissan Sentra. I want to transition away from gas, so I'm in the market for diesel pickup. I'd like something smaller so the LUV would be great. Long bed, 4x4, and decent camper top would be bonuses. I haven't decided between a greasekit to run wvo or brewing my own biodiesel (might do both to have options).

I fully intend to learn how to work on my truck once I purchase it, but now my skills are limited to changing a tire. A truck in decent running shape when I get it is a must. If anyone has a lead or two I'd love to hear.

Thanks, Craig

Welcome. They come up on E Bay once in a while. Also check craigslist. If you want a diesel LUV, you would be looking for an '81 or '82. That was the last two years for the LUV and the only ones with the diesel.

You could also look at Isuzu PUP's, and VW's.

That's the sticking point. Most of these trucks that are on the market are in "project" condition and need some TLC. One that needs nothing but routine maintenance is going to cost some serious change.

Oh, there's a guy in Oregon who is doing a NICE restoration job on a P'up and it will be on the market soon. He's even documenting the work as he goes. Check the Isuzu P'up forum if interested.

"JoeIsuzu" is just my username. I adopted that when I started the Isuzu P'up site because "Joe Isuzu" was well known as the spokesman for Isuzu in U.S. commercials. My real name is Jack.
