Hi all, somewhat recently my 82 LUV diesel got into an accident that was my fault. The truck rolled down a slight incline into an 18-wheeler trailer parked for storage. Left the truck in neutral like an idiot! My truck's windshield hit the bottom of the trailer and cracked it, along with damaging the driver's side pillar. The roof is also pushed down because of the pillar being pushed in. In addition to that, my driver's side floor board has had rust and has been weak for the past two years. In the accident, the cab mount gave way because of the existing floor around it being rusty. So to add, damage is there too. I currently have the truck at a body shop now, but I don't think that it will be able to get fixed at a decent price. A $1,000 or more bill is an amount I don't want to spend on the repairs. So, I'm thinking about whether I should try to get the existing damage fixed or put another cab on the truck. If I do get it fixed it needs a windshield, driver's pillar, and work done to the driver's side floor around the cab mount. Welding and body work is involved that's for sure. My dad and I recently got done repainting the truck orange in November 2004, plus I have put other investments into the truck. I don't want to give up on it in any way. Feel free to let me know what you think and here are three pictures of the damage on the cab of the truck.

IMO if the floor is rusted out and w/ this damage, I would go find a new cab and put it on there. Your new paint is toast because with this damage you would have to repaint most of the cab 8) again. So why not paint a new cab to match the bed?

Ron, thanks for the reply. I think that's what I'm going to go ahead and do. Going with another cab is probably the best bet. I hope to have the truck done by the end of summer and will start the rebuild process the beginning of spring.

Dan, thanks for the appreciation. I actually like the 2nd generation LUV better than the 1st, but that means in no way that I don't like the 72-80 LUVs. I'd think about doing that though if I did like the 1st generations better and thanks a lot for the idea. By the way, I wanted to say your LUV looks real sweet given the picture as your avatar.
