You should be able to get the voltage regulator from any of your local auto parts stores. They will not have it in stock though, as most diesel parts have to be ordered. That's the experience I've had over the years with getting parts for the diesels I've owned. Speaking of a voltage regulator, I just bought one from Advance Auto Parts for my 1982 Datsun Maxima diesel. Yup, they had to order it and it cost a little under $32.00 with tax. I'd imagine they could get a voltage regulator for your LUV diesel and the price wouldn't break your bank either.

'82 Maxima diesel, huh? Sounds like an interesting car. I've only heard good about the Nissan diesels. Do you agree? or feel different about that?
I'd love to have a diesel car, instead of the gasser Camry. The wife drives it mostly.
Do you get decent mpg with it?

Zack, I can totally agree with these cars being good diesels. The 81-83 Datsun/Nissan Maxima was available with a 2.8 straight 6 cylinder diesel. It's a chain driven OHC engine that generates 80 HP. My car has a little less than 212,000 miles on it and still runs great. Car has a 3 speed automatic transmission and I average about 28 mpg in a 4-door sedan that weighs at least 3,000 lbs. I believe the cars were available in Canada, but don't know that for sure. These cars were basically standard to have automatic transmissions and the 5-speed manual was the option. So more of the ones you see for sale are going to be automatic. But, if you were to get one with a 5-speed you can expect to see fuel mileage of over 30 mpg, probably something like 31-32 mpg. The 80's era Nissan diesel engines are some of the best made I think and if you ever own one whether it be in a car or pickup you would not be disappointed. Anything diesel is my best friend!
