I've owned this truck since new and followed the maintenance schedule recommended by the factory.

I've recently had a problem of lack of performance/power. I sort of discovered the problem by not being able to "pump up" the fuel filter after replacing the filter drain valve o ring.

The engine started and ran OK, sort of .

Anyway I finally found the source of the problem , a colgged fuel filter and a inoperative fuel filter pump.( only 20,000 miles on the filter.)

I purchased a new filter assembly(from Chev). This one has a water drain valve on the top connected to a hose that runs from the bottom.

Power is back to it's usual anemic self.

So you might check your fuel filter if you have the same problem. WIX fuel and oil filters are available for these trucks.

Yeah, the motors are pretty weak w/o some mods to the intake and exhaust. I'd try and find a bigger exhaust manifold and put a flowmast/magnaflow/cherrybomb on it with some 2"-2.5" pipe.

I'm currently running the larger manifold with a flowmaster with 2" pipe, I used to have a ram-air setup but has been removed and i'm about to make a cold-air kit for it.

Just as a side note the wix oil filters are $12, even at GM Employee price
