Hi. I have a running diesel engine and 2wd manual transmission that came out of a rusted out 82 LUV diesel truck. I'm looking for a truck to put them into. If anyone has put a LUV diesel engine into a non-LUV truck please tell me what you put it into and how well it went.

Just a Isuzu diesel engine and tranny. Best bet would be to find you a good Luv Truck or Isuzu Pup. With a little work you could put it in any small truck or RWD car. This combo was also used in the Chevy chevette.

I don't know of any "kit" or anything made for this engine to install it in other cars-trucks. It was also used in the first 2 years of the Chevy-GMC s10-15
but it used a differnt bellhousing and a T-5 tranny. But it would work like this too.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

I've been keeping an eye out for any LUVs or ISUZU PUPs but they aren't very common around here. The few I've seen have been almost completely rusted out to the point where they are unsafe to drive from frame rust through. I've been watching for a mid 80's S10s with stick shifts and 2wd but haven't gotten lucky yet. Most with bad motors I've come across have had automatics in them and don't want to get into changing over from automatic to stick shift if I can avoid it.

Making a standard out of a auto isn't much fun. Not impossible of course, just not easy, at least with the S10. I converted my S10 to a diesel from a 4.3 w/auto, and getting the pedal cluster in wasn't too fun.

Perhaps this link will give you more insight as to what your motor will fit, and what's involved to make it fit:

Lots of info there for Isuzu diesels and related trucks. It's good advice to search your topic before posting a question, as it may have been covered many times already.

Just my 2ยข worth. :D

home made Luv-buggy anyone?

That would be pretty sweet if you did make your own frame. and then just plexi-glassed it. But you wouldn't like the winters...
