I have a 1982 2.2 isuzu diesel and i want to find a transmission for it. I was wondering is there are any transmissions that would bolt up from any other vehicles. Perhaps a early S10 or S15 or isuzu trooper, because the chevy luv is hard to find in indiana?

Justin, try http://www.car-part.com for a transmission. You will not be able to use a transmission from an S10 or S15 unless it has the same diesel engine. 81-82 LUVs, 81-87 PUPs, and 86-87 Troopers are the vehicles that have the transmission you need. Now whether it is a 4WD or 2WD trans needed you can scratch looking for a trans from the Trooper since all were 4WDs anyway. Also, you have to look for a transmission special to the diesel engine because the gas engine transmission has the starter mounted on the opposite side. I would think car-part.com should be able to help you out though.

Just a note on the S10/S15 trannys, the only diesel available in the S10/S15 was the C223. The transmissions were common Borg-Warner T5s, with 4 or 5spds, the bell housings mated it to the engine. Find this bell housing, the transmission will be the easy part.
Gear ratios were lower for the diesel, but the gas transmissions aren't too bad. I have a 4 cyl gas S10 trannny in mine now.
