the line comes from the bottom of the block to the center of the vacuum pump...Then there is another hose on the side that goes to the brake booster...one that is leaking oil comes from the block to the center of vacuum pump...

The vacuum pump on your motor is lubed with crankcase oil. One line comes from the oil gallery with pressure to go to the vacuum pump, and another returns it to the sump. A third line is for the vacuum itself.

This is what the P'up came with, anyway, as the vacuum pump was on the back of the alternator.

You can pump the engine dry of oil if the feed or return lines aren't attatched.

Just my 2¢. :)

Slick--

The pressure oil feed line to the vacuum pump has banjo fittings on each end. These can be removed and a new piece of hose crimped on to be as good as new. We have an industrial hardware store here where I live that does this stuff.

Hopefully you can find a place in Oregon that can do it. While you are at it have them make it about an inch longer as the line can get bent too sharply when one adjusts the alternator.

Paul

------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had to replace my oil line that runs to the back of the alternator this past summer. The following infomation was found by doing an author search for all of my posts "woody"
Good thing this is you can still get the part from Isuzu, bad thing it costs alot for a small item and it takes a couple of weeks to get it. Now that they are all on computers, they don't have tech data on the Diesel Luv, so I had them refrence the Isuzu Pup truck, that was in production till 1986-87? or try cross refrencing the Tropper, since that diesel engine used the same setup.

From an early post:
I just bought this truck a month ago, was changing the alternator belt and caused the oil line to go bad.
Any idea on where to get the parts to fix it? The part number is (94028195)?
The hose has two banjo fittings, one is 12mm the other is 17mm. The 17mm side conects to the pump, the 12mm connects to the block.

I know it sounds wierd that an oil hose is connected to the alternator, but this is a special alternator which has a vacuum pump that is specially for the diesels. I can get a hose made by a local auto parts store, but as for myself making the hose myself, I don't have the capabilities and right tools/machinery. I will try to get a brand new one from the dealer, which is the best way to handle the problem with the leaking

from an earlier post
The oil line that routes to the the back of the alternator is used to keep the vacuum pump oiled and cooled.
The Vacuum pump is mounted to the back of the alternator (diesel englines do not create a lot of vacuum) to produce vaccum to run the brake booster.

Hope this helps

BTW to find that little oil line with banjo fitttings you have to order it directly threw Isuzu. It will cost you about $45.00, and $2.00 for the banjo gaskets.
It you just need to change the alternator or belts REMOVE THE HOSE! or it willl brake since the line was soft , over time it gets hard from the heat and will brake.

I don't know if you want to try this but would you be interested in going to the Isuzu dealer for the hose? I think I would try to go to the dealer, as my local Isuzu dealer has very reasonable prices on new parts for my 1982 LUV and it is 20+ years old. If not, try your local Chevrolet dealer for the hose. If you want, I can get you the part number for that exact oil hose because I have a 1972-1982 Chevrolet LUV microfiche. Now my opinion is the Chevrolet dealer won't be as reliable as the Isuzu dealer when it comes to new parts for the diesel trucks and that is why you will need a part number for the Chevrolet dealer. As long as you have the part number I can't seem them turning you down and hopefully they can get you one. If your interested in the Chevy part number, please let me know and just reply back here.

I would have to agree Isuzu would be more reliable cause Chevrolet dealership here has been totally un helpful...they wont even talk to me about my truck......Which I think is pretty stupid considering they meade the truck in conjunction with Isuzu if im not mistaken but sent pm luvdiesel thanks

Check the 4x4wire.com forums and try to find Jerry Lemond. (JLEMOND I believe) He will know where to point you for one. You could also call the parts dept at St Charles Isuzu. They have a great rep with the Isuzu guys at 4x4wire for finding the most obscure parts. Find them at http://isuzu.stcharlesauto.com/ and hit the contact link for a phone number or put in a parts request at the parts link. I hear "Merlin" in parts is THE person to talk to.

Darn. I read this too late. I have the OEM line you need. I picked it up at the Isuzu dealer years ago. The parts guy laughed when I bought it since they actually had it in stock.. :)
