my fuel filter light is on an i already changed the filter and it is still on . what could be the problem?

The float may be jamed.

There is also a sensor that senses when there is water in the filter.You might check the connection to that to make you do not have a short or also a possibility is the sensor is bad

I agree. There is a sensor that screws into the bottom of the fuel filter, this plug could be undone, the float is saturated and won't float anymore, the float is stuck, or you have water in the filter.

Smack the crap out of it with a hammer. It may be the float, so I suggest using a flashlight, not a lighter, to take the tank down (major PIA) and see if it is that, it it is, smack it or replace it again. Some of the time they sit so long that they get stuck.

Don't smack the filter too hard though so that it dents. It wrecks the filtering parts on the inside and won't work right.
