I am having a little trouble with my 1981 chevy luv Diesel 4x4. When I hit the brakes hard the first time, the pedal goes to the floor, the "brake idiot light" comes on and feels like I broke a brake line, however when I pump up the brakes, the truck gains a better petal feeling and the truck slows down.
I have had trouble with my vacumm pump on my s-10 , (so I reomoved it) but exact opposite is happening the petal is very hard to push. Also note that I am not lossing any brake Fluid. And if somtimes when I reve the engine the petal gets softer.

So is it my master cylinder? Is it my Vaccum Pump?, is it my wheel cylinders?

It just feels like I am blowing a brake line every time I hit the brakes
:(

you have a bad master cylinder, when you hit the brakes, its not holding up to the pressure. the vacuum pump runs the brake booster which makes the brake easier to push, so thats not your problem.
