Does anybody know where i can get a engine for a 81 chevy luv diesel 4x4.......mine is shot and trying to get prices on a engine rebuilding is expensive......

I imagine getting parts for the diesel would be tough, and I can't recall ever seeing a complete rebuilt motor advertised anyplace like I have for the gas motor.

If you are looking for potential donors for a runable used motor, the same basic diesel was used in Isuzu pickups and Troopers. Somewhere around 1985-86 or so I think they started doing a turbo diesel, but the basic motor was unchanged and should still bolt up. If I recall, the 2.2L diesel stayed pretty much the same through about 1988 other than the addition of the turbo.

one of the little chevy cars of the same time(i think chevette) had the same diesel motor as the luv.

She parts out diesel luvs, pups and chevettes. I bought a used heater core from her back in September for $40. It worked great. I also bought some odd and ends for my diesel S-10.

I think i just might put a Gas engine instead a rebuild kit is almost a thousand dollars for these little motor :!:
