Hey guys! So my truck was at my dads place this week and he called me to tell me he ran out of fuel. He did not realize it was out of fuel and cranked the starter for a long time to insure lots of good clean air in all the fuel lines. I cant find a bleeder screw, or purge pump, or really any way to get air out of the fuel system. Any advice would be very appreciated!!!

Year? Gas or Diesel?

Most of the petrol powered have an electric fuel pump, so the second you get fuel back in the tank, the pump will feed it up to the carb.

Diesel, I have no idea. I think JoeIsuzu will be the guru on them.

There's a bleeder on the back of the injection pump, but that will purge the air only as far as the pump. It's in the center of a larger nut, but that's about the best I can describe it. Open it up, and use the hand primer pump until fuel comes out. Then close it. It might still require quite a bit of cranking to bleed the air out of the hard lines.

And no, these diesels don't have an electric pump (at least, not from the factory).

Great! Thank you. I will try this as soon as I pick the truck up. Hopefully its just air in the lines and not something else..this truck has given me no end of trouble.

Most of the issues with this model are pretty easily fixable, if you know what to look for. Unfortunately, most (mine included) went for years with only minimal maintenance (all I did was keep the oil changed regularly). With age, rubber lines and electrical connections go bad. Those two factors probably result in 95% of the problems you'll have.

Post your problems here, and hopefully we can help.

Jack
