I have a 82 s 10 with a 1.9 gas engine, 4 sp and 81 2.2 diesel engine from a LUV. I am looking for information on a trasmissions. Will the tramsmission from the 1.9 bolt up to the 2.2 diesel? If not are there any common transmissions that will bolt up?

it might bolt up, not exactly sure though. 82-85 s10s had the same 2.2l diesel engines as the luv, if i'm not mistaken

I have a 1985 S-10 with the 2.2L izusu diesel engine in stock form. When the truck hit 190,000 5th gear went sour. I bought a 5 speed transmission from a junkyard that came out of a stock 4 banger S-10, to swap in. I thought it would bolt up.....It didn't The bell housing is complety different, as well as the input shaft. So what I did was change the guts over to my stock diesel transmission (keep in mind all that I need to change was the gear)
So in short look for a transmission out of a 1981-82 Luv, 1982-1985 S-10(5speed), 1983-1986 Pup, or I think out of a trooper that has the diesel engine will work.

Having a luv with the 4 speed(4x4) and the S-10 with the five speed(2x4) I would recommend that you find a 5 speed since the overdrive helps the engine run better. I am trying to find information on swapping my two transmissions around.

I dont think a 5speed out of a trooper will work. The motors they put in them (unless its an early one whith a 1.9L or 1.8L oid a diesel) the bell housing is diferent i have been told. You will probly have to find an isuzu PUP whiht the small 4bangers or a luv to donate a tranny for ya.

I am sorry I should have been more clear.

So in short look for a transmission out of a 1981-82 DIESEL Luv, 1982-1985 DIESEL S-10(5speed), 1983-1986 DIESEL Pup, or I think out of a DIESEL trooper.

I believe any Isuzu 5 speed transmission will work as long as it came from an Isuzu 2.2L diesel truck including troopers.

This is a quote from a Diesel Trooper that I was going to buy
"It is the 2.2 turbo, the only diesel that isuzu sold here in the US.
It is a 5 speed with overdrive, again, the only way it was sold. I get
about 25 to 30 mpg."

man i realy whish we would get more diesels over here. Isuzu made an awsome diesel for the UK, 2.5L. It was loud as hell but vary reliable and stuff. I just wish we could get all the motors over here... :?
