New to me Luv Diesel. I need to reseal the IP or have my IP rebuilt. I'm having trouble finding a source for parts and a rebuilder for the IP.
I've tried several searches here, but I must not be going about it properly. Info / help on IP rebuilding appreciated.
Some of the seals can be replaced at home. The CSD seals, and the throttle seal, for example. The head seal requires a special wrench, but if you could get the wrench you could replace that one. However, after 30 years, it could probably use more than just new seals.
I recommend a complete rebuild. It really can't be done without special tools and test equipment. When I had mine done a few months ago, they found that the input shaft had worn down and was just out of tolerance. They had a new bushing machined to fit, and they did a fantastic job. The shop offers a $50 discount to
IsuzuPup.com members, and they had pretty fast turnaround. The work was actually done by one of our members who works at the shop part-time, and arranged for the discount.
Here's the "after" shot of my pump before they returned it to me. Note they replaced the Cold Start Device with a VW manual one, because the Isuzu CSD was really troublesome. That's a $100 "extra" they offer.
