Ask your questions I am sure someone can answer them. I own two diesel trucks both with the 2.2L Diesel so I may be good for a couple of your questions.

well what happens that if you start in the morning the truck runs great and has all the power it should but as soon as you shut it off and restart it it spits and sputters and smokes its really odd

oh yeah i have changed every single filter i can find on that thing....thats whats odd there are no fuel leaks...im thinking might have a bad seal in the injection pump or something but not sure dont have the equipment to test it

I may be able to answer some of your questions. I have a 1982 Chevy LUV diesel 2WD and my dad has a 1981 Chevy LUV diesel 4WD. I'm not sure why the truck would sputter and have no power, but it may be the fuel injectors or fuel injection pump. I actually would say neither, because these motors are awesome and rarely have any kind of problems. If you are in cold weather right now, the motor will diffenently vibrate and smoke. For this, let the motor warm up for at least 5 minutes.

It could all so be water in the diesel.

the good thing is my friend is a mechanic for diesel engines and has proper equipment to test the injector pump and set the pressure on the injectors.......as for water when i drain the filter i never get water I always just get diesel its kinda odd cause that what i thought.....i though was air for a while so i put a clear fuel line connecting to the injector pump but there was no air....so im hoping maybe the seal on the bottom of the injector could be bad or maybe a seal in the injector pump................... :?:
