Agreed. That's the C223 diesel that was used in the 2nd-gen LUV and Isuzu P'up. It's 2.23 liters. In naturally aspirated form, it puts out 58-60 hp and should be expected to get 35 mpg with a 3.73 rear end. Don't let the HP number deceive you, because the torque is pretty good. Add a turbo (somewhat risky to the connecting rods) and power goes up.
There's also the slightly smaller 4FB1, a 1.8L OHC engine. It's only 50 HP, but it revs higher than the C223 (5,000 RPM redline vs. about 4,200 on the C223). It's an easier swap because the motor will bolt right up to the typical gas transmissions (4-speed or 5-speed). It should get slightly better fuel economy than the C223.
