My 1.8 is toast. Need options. Will it bolt in? What about the engine harness?

I can find a tranny and radiator to go in it.

Do they run WVO well?

Thanks

I've been told that they will not work because of starter issues and other issues.

Isuzu C190s (same block as C223) Diesels were factory fitted to LUVS.

Have known a few guys who have done this swap, BUT you will have to have a donor vehicle to get all the parts needed because everything is different. The stock wiring for the diesel is a nightmare!!! And when you get done you have a very under powered truck! (Sorry Joe Isuzu) Some guys say they are getting over 30 mpg though. Don't know where you live, but if you live on flat land you might be happy. I live in So CA and a Luv diesel is dangerous to drive out here, can't keep up in traffic, and won't run at freeway speeds of 70 plus.
Most of the diesel Luvs had higher rear end ratios too, my 81 previously diesel powered Luv has 3:42 gears, while your stock Luv will usually have 4:11s.
Its kind of like a question that we used to ask in the old days, "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" Or is the diesel going to be what you want. Good time to ask a lot of questions about the swap.
I am not putting diesels down, just stating the facts as I see them from owning a factory diesel powered 81 Luv. So please no negative comebacks!!!

i helped pee_roy do that swap. we had a donor vehicle. we just chopped up the donor vehicle wiring harness. it was slow. before the turbo. after it would do 85 on the freeway.

he has sold the truck some time back. :(

You said the right word Turbo, diesels and turbos were meant for each other!
When we turbo'd VW Rabbit Diesels we doubled the horse power and upped the mpg from 40 to over 65 mpg!!! Fantastic improvement. I'd love to drive a Luv turbo diesel!! Bet they get 40-50 mpg too! A turbo sure does level out the hills, make like they are on flat roads.
