John, I gues I didn't explain things well enough bu I don't have any problem with the engine themostat, it is installed correctly and keeps the motor at 185 degrees, The inline 'stat' is kind of spliced in to the hose
coming from the base of the oil filter and goes behind the motor , connecting to a steel tube that runs on top of the intake. This themostat
only controls the flow of coolant through the base of the oil filter and I just need to know which direction the coolant flows at the oil filter base,
does the flow come from the head to the filter or does the flow go from the steel tube on the manifold to the filter base an return to the head?
So if I knew the flow path, I could place the spring part toward the flow, because in this application 'spring up or spring down' do not apply.
Thanks for responding and any help. Fitzworld
