a 6.2L and 6.5L can take one hell of a beating when operated correctly. YES some had flawed blocks (more than not some yrs) and yes they have stupid weak head bolts and gaskets. I have never cracked a head, my 00 dually cracked a block at 40K miles.

All of my trucks are tagged for 36K and I have been accussed of being overloaded weekly. No the K1500 doesnt tow that heavy its my DD, but its under the same fleet policy just for good measure.

I have been looking for a P'up or luv diesel for a DD/parts runner for some time but the best I have found was for $3500 which seems high for no scrap weight lol. I thought of a cammed 6.2L in one but decided the weight would be more trouble than its worth, I have a pile of turbos to try on the 2.23L.

My goal is my 82's drivetrain in an El Camino, I traded for the truck purely for the drivetrain.

My 93 makes plenty of power and can tow with any new cummins or dmax anyday. Its built to not over heat and get good towing MPG. Beats my LBZ anyday.

I dont have many issues with 6.5L's.

I have been planning a Cammed 6.2L in a El Camino, using the drivetrain from my 82. It will be alot easier swap than into a luv or s10.

I know when you drop a 6.5L into an s10 there are exhaust manifold clearance problems and people have to notch the frame so the exhaust pipe has a place to go besides outside the frame. I wouldnt be too worried about weight, if you are build custom headers and shave bout 50#

EDIT: Now both posts show.... Oh Well, Didnt realize this was a post approved forum.
