Alright going off of a question raised before. What years were diesels availiable in LUVs? My dad happens to remeber that it was an option when he was buying now my 80 LUV.

I have heard that the Isuzu Pup trucks had a 2.2L turbo Diesel avaliable in 86 and 87. I have a 2.2L diesel in my 1985 S-10 from the factory,

So I Guess they were avaliable as 2.2L all the way uo to 87 in Luvs, Pups and S-10s, however I seem to remember that the diesel S-10 was only offered from 1984-1985, And only avaiable in 2wd versions.

This is a message board for Isuzu diesels. I seem to remember that I learned the above information from this site.

What year LUV do you have? If you own an 81 or 82, then obviously you will be able to put in any 2.2 diesel engine out of an Isuzu PUP. A step up from that engine that you could put in would be a 2.2 turbo diesel engine from the later 86 and 87 year PUP. The non-turbo 2.2 has 60 HP, while the turbo 2.2 has 80 HP. That would be the best thing to do and still not have much problems with the engine being able to fit. To find a 2.2 turbo diesel engine though is pretty hard. It is a rare find, but I would try some of your local junkyards. You never know what you could find. If you want to know about what other diesel engines may be able to fit into your LUV, then just reply back to me any way you can.

Nope they are not all 2.2's it depends on which country they were exported to l have 6 diesel luv's they are all fitted with 2.0 engines. It was 1988 before they started using the 2.2 engine over here in the UK.

well if a 2.2L makes 85hp and 95lbs ft then im going to guess the 2.0L makes 75hp and 85lbs ft. No matter how gutless though these thing rock.

thats a carecteristic of all isuzu motors. In my 4x4 club theres alot of fullsized guys that will sing the praises of my luv becouse i have pulled them out. Just driving around you wouldnt know how torquey these motors are but they are geared right to make awsome workhorse trucks 8)
