Ok guys im new to this forum and to this chevy luv "the smallest truck ive ever owned" but not to diesels. she is an 81 diesel and 4x4. I picked it up for a song from an old farmer who used it for a feed truck. The top of the cab is dented and both fenders are caved in as well as doors from his cows and it doesnt have the grill or bumper. I got her home and got her fired up with minimal effort. she has some blow by actually in my opinion quite abit but I was wondering what you guys can tell me about your opinion of these trucks. im probably gonna strip the body off it and make a tube buggy that will hold my welder but I may part with it as well just kind of depends on its capabilities. thanks

if you have a way of testing commpresson

they where about 430psi when new and Isuzu recommended over hall point is 375psi.

but ive seen these things run with as little as 275 on one piston and around 325/350 on the others. still starts ok but very lacking in power.
with that low of compression, it would do 60mph and thats it.

the other big thing is the frame thats a killer to the auto, unless your willing to pach it up.

the easiest way to tell is, does the cab and bed have the same gap at the top as the bottem,
if its narrow at the top then you have a frame that needs some TLC at the very least for off road farm use.

just about the only place you will find new diesel spec parts is Jerry, he does not post on this board just isuzupup.com and some other boards

he sells OEM parts 10% over his cost.
hes located in the S/E of the usa
