Has anyone on here but one of these in or similar size diesel?
I know where I can get one for the price it would cost to fix my stock 1.8L gas motor, and have been thinking of switching over to diesel.

The 6.2 and 6.5 in my opinion were the worst engine made. I used to work as a mechanic for a place that had more of these then anyone else in the U.S. I will say this, I would use the 6.2 as a boat anchor but it might fail at that also.

na the GM 4.3 5.7 diesels are by far worse :!:

the 6.2 with the newer B head setup does ok if (no) turbo.
turbo a 6.2L and you have a ((very high)) risk setup. even in a little LUV or pup.

though 130HP in a little LUV with 250+tourqe getting the same mpg as the 1.8 gaser woudent be that bad.
if the frame and aixels can handel it.

if your guna go thru the trubble of beffing the frame and aixels the cummens 3.9 I-4 would be a better way to go. though more $$$$$$ to do. but LBs 550ish for the 3.9 i think its a little less LBs than a 6.2L or 6.5L engine.

it can be done ether way but its a big project.

one of thoese inported 2.8 3.1 isuzu diesels would be a much esear install, no body lift. though $3,000ish for the engine trans and there all 4x4 that i have seen. same power as a 6.2 from a 2.8 or 3.1 engine stock. :P

all the ford 7.3 make less than 225hp tell around 96 or 97. even the power stroke that came out in 1994-1\2.
that 6.6 isuzu\GM engine is over 300hp or more 8O :D
and an extra 200+ or so of touqe 600 rpms lower.

This is all fine and dandy, but you must consider this engine weights a LOT more than the original engine. The front end won't be designed to handle so much weight without major reconstruction.

But that's just my 2c worth. :egeek

Yes, stay the F*** away from 6.2L and 6.5L GM diesel engines. They are ticking time bombs (my neighbor is trying to sell his 6.5L suburban, and I saw the mess under the hood one day....turbocharger is slinging oil badly and it runs like s*** when he first starts it!)
