there are diffrences from a N\A to a T\D isuzu engine.
the valves are smaller in theT\D
the angel cut on the rings are a little diffrent
the compresson is the same.
as far as i know the crank is the same.
timing is 15 for N\A 10 for T\D.
the piston pin is a few MM bigger for T\D.
the pump has boost compensator, thingee LOL to limit fuel to the engine at times of low boost.
staying under 8 or 10psi is best for longer life.
now then theres the rods.......

theres only about 800 sets of gen 3 rods in the USA, and most are in troopers.
theres also GEN2s but i dont know how many sets of those are out there.

i figure this will help you and others doing diesel swaps and or repare.
and yes the part numbers are the same on GEN 2 and 3 i have no idea why.
hope this helps.

Have you driven a Luv diesel powerd pickup yet? If not I would stongly suggest you do! They are very low powered and are a real menace in freeway traffic, all the power is delivered right off idle and rpms do not increase the available power. Plus you are pretty well limited to around 60 MPH because you cannot use 5th gear below 55 and expect the transmission to hold up.
After almost getting run over several times in LA traffic I finally swapped out to a sbc 305 with a 700R4 trans, now I can at least keep up with traffic and I get even better mileage than the diesel did!
PLEASE, NO hate mail, I just was terribly disappointed with my diesel Luv experience.
scjconv: a 78 383-T350 stepside, and a 81 sbc 305-700R4 OD

yes its not fast buy ""any strech"", i mean a geo (tin can) can get up and go faster than my trooper.

a "good running" 2.2L N\A diesel will get..................
at 55mph in a 4x2, about 30/34 mpg around town.
with a 3.73 rear, 5 speed and stock tire size.

it was not running right :!:
